Assistant Religious Director – Islamic Society of Orange County

Work Location: Islamic Society of Orange County, Garden Grove, CA
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm and weekends as needed
Compensation: Excellent compensation and comprehensive benefits package

Summary:

The Assistant Religious Director of ISOC will execute the religious and spiritual direction, guidance and promotion of the ISOC goals and mission within the intra-faith and inter-faith community. The Assistant Religious Director will utilize Religious Director, Dr. Siddiqi as an advisor in building a solid Islamic foundation for spirituality, youth leadership, out-reach and community development within the Muslim community.

Responsibilities:

  • Give the Khutbah and lead Jumu’ah/ Eid Prayers and provide matrimonial/funeral services
  • Provide weekly Quran/Hadith studies, Seerah and Fiqh lessons, and other Islamic topics to increase knowledge and provide for spiritual growth of community members
  • Participate in the community activities that further improve interfaith and public relations for Islam and Muslims.
  • Offer resources, guidance and counseling to families and youth as needed.
  • Provide support and leadership to Youth Coordinator.
  • Analyze and implement the effectiveness of all programs within Islamic context.
  • Work with ISOC President on annual department budget for religious activities.
  • Help fundraising programs for the community as needed.
  • Provide consultation to the Board of Directors and Orange Crescent School on religious curriculum, community issues, and Mosque activities as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Shari’ah, or Islamic Jurisprudence or related field from a recognized educational institution
  • Demonstrated five plus years of experience in religious leadership and/or as an Imam
  • Basic knowledge of counseling and therapy acquired through formal education
  • Masters/PhD in relevant fields is preferred
  • Good knowledge of Quran and tajweed. Memorization of the Quran preferred
  • Ability to teach and lead classrooms.
  • Strong English, Arabic and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of social media and proficiency in MS Office
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict prevention and resolution.
  • Basic knowledge of project management, relationship management and time management
  • Ability to interact with youth, diverse community and people of other faiths
  • Ability to work 40+ hours, majority of which will be on site

Islamic Studies Teacher – Islamic Weekend School

Work Location: Islamic Society of Orange County, Garden Grove, CA
Work Hours: Sundays 9:30am – 1:30pm, during the school year
Compensation:  Starting at $10 / hour
Grades Open:  Potential openings for both younger and older grades

Summary:

The Islamic Weekend School is an innovative, unique educational and social institution committed to building well-rounded Muslims. We are seeking Islamic Studies teachers to complete our faculty for the upcoming school year.  The teacher is the role model and mentor of children and should aim to lead students to discover the beauty of Islam, with the intent of applying knowledge into beneficial actions. Responsibilities:

Toddler Teacher – Orange Crescent Montessori Preschool

Work Location: Orange Crescent Montessori Preschool, Garden Grove, CA
Work Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 7:30-am – 3:30 pm
Compensation: Excellent compensation with generous benefits.

Summary:

The Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate Toddler program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures. The teacher is responsible for the well-being of each child in the class for his/her social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. The Toddler Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and ensures the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
  • Plans the classroom curriculum and its implementation.
  • Provide positive guidance and encouragement in each student’s daily routine which include tasks such as diapering, toilet training, eating, hand washing, napping, etc.
  • Incorporates a Montessori-blended approach to all student learning.
  • Tends to all children in a loving and nurturing fashion.
  • Works with Director on arrangement of class field trips, class events and programs.
  • Keeps classroom, storage area, and bathrooms clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Works in partnership with parents to facilitate toilet training in the classroom.
  • Prepares healthy snacks for the children and supervises them while they eat.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Montessori certification
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • 1+ years in Preschool/Pre-K as a teacher or Teaching Assistant
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to lift 30 lbs.

Summary:

Resource Teacher – Orange Crescent School

Work Location: Orange Crescent School, Garden Grove, CA
Work Hours: Part time

Summary:

This employee is responsible for providing curriculum support systems for students, teachers, and administrators.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist school personnel in the collection and analysis of students’ performance data for assessment, evaluation, and decision-making.
  • Assist teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies.
  • Coordinate the selection, acquisition, use, and evaluation of instructional materials. Maintain appropriate records and conduct on-going evaluation of programs and services.
  • Create and provide timelines, calendars and schedules.
  • Assist with the implementation of programs and follow up insuring consistency with the school’s educational philosophy.
  • Work with staff for the purpose of planning and developing appropriate instruction.
  • Coordinate with other educators in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assist with the selection and production of instructional materials and appropriate supplementary supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution

1st Grade Teacher– Orange Crescent School

Youth Coordinator – Islamic Society of Orange County

Work Location: Islamic Society of Orange County, Garden Grove, CA
Work Hours: 20 hrs/week, Fridays 8 hrs & 12 hrs on weekends & weekdays
Compensation:  Depending on experience

Summary:

Youth Coordinator provides development, coordination and oversight of youth services, and builds a positive youth program. He or she must integrate recreational and artistic activities with educational and spiritual components and provide leadership to youth, including but not limited to tutoring and mentorship programs, community service, education and cultural programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an annual and monthly activities calendar
  • Develop balance of spiritual, educational and fun activities
  • Secure and maintain space for activities and discussions on and offsite
  • Ensure weekly youth programs are effective for all age groups
  • Utilize social media to announce activities and to invite youth
  • Develop volunteer schedules and assignments to help them carry out their specific duties and responsibilities
  • Establish your feedback/evaluation process per activity
  • Work with the high schools & College Youth Coordinators to ensure that the HS & College MSA clubs are receiving adequate assistance in planning and executing their own programs

Qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience coordinating youth activities with a large scale of youth
  • Must demonstrate project management skills
  • Must possess the ability to work directly with middle, high school and college students
  • Must be present at all major community programs
  • Excel under expectations of high performance and continual improvement
  • Ability to motivate and inspire youth
