Volunteer with Us!
ISOC would not exist without the tireless dedication and hard work of volunteers who sought to establish a strong Muslim community center in Orange County. To this day, volunteers play an important part in ensuring ISOC continues to serve the community through events and services.
Whether you’re seeking to fulfill credits for a community service assignment or are interested in establishing an internship or volunteer position in your field of interest, we’d love to have you volunteer with us.
Here are some ways that volunteers have contributed in the past:
- Helped manage and coordinate special events
- Provided IT skills
- Helped with various Ramadan and Eid projects
- Greeted guests at interfaith events
- Greeted and offered tours to visitors
- Provided licensed babysitting services
Current Ongoing Community Service Projects
- Community Action Partnership of Orange County Food Bank – ISOC volunteers at the food bank monthly. More details can be found here.
- Someone Cares Soup Kitchen – Every 3 months, ISOC prepares lunch bags for delivery to the soup kitchen.
Here are a few testimonials from some of our past and present volunteers:
My volunteering experience at ISOC makes me feel like I am doing a good deed by helping out the Muslim community. The volunteer tasks aren’t always easy but the hard work is worth it.
–Farihah Sharif, Special Events Volunteer
Whenever I go to any other masjid I don’t feel the same connection as I do with ISOC. This masjid is like my home and everyone here is part of a big family.
–Iqra Mukhlis, Volunteer
Volunteering for ISOC has helped me gain experience with handling people and cope with tough situations. Helping out in the masjid is a great way to help your community in ways that can express your talent as an individual. It has helped me build my public speaking skills and helped me gain confidence.
–Soondus Awan, Ramadan Volunteer
My experiences as an ISOC volunteer have been incredible! It’s a great feeling to know that I play a role, however small, in helping to shape this wonderful community.
–Myra Mughal, Community Events Volunteer
I am a life-long Christian with a desire to learn about the beliefs of others. I attended an eight week course on World Religions at the Mosque in Garden Grove. I was greeted warmly by all of the Muslims. When opportunities arise for me to volunteer at the Garden Grove Mosque, I do so. I helped ISOC make sandwiches for sack lunches for the homeless on 9/11. This was an opportunity for the Muslims and myself to work together on the healing of our sad memories.
